Appointment of Dr. Reggie Caudill to Interim Dean
Dr. Reggie J. Caudill is Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at NJIT. He joined the faculty at NJIT in 1990 and became chair of the department in 2011.
Dr. Caudill has over 30 years of experience in research related to industrial ecology, sustainability, and manufacturing systems, including principal investigator for a recently funded million-dollar grant from PSE&G bringing advanced energy efficiency and sustainability techniques to NJ industry.
For many years, he served as executive director of NJIT’s manufacturing research center and the multi-lifecycle engineering research center, leading multi-million dollar research programs and collaborating closely with faculty across the university and partner institutions. These centers received broad support through the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology, various federal agencies, and over 40 industry partners.
Dr. Caudill teaches courses in industrial engineering with a focus on systems analysis, production economics, dynamic system simulation, and lifecycle analysis and sustainability. Dr. Caudill has also served on various national and international committees created by US EPA, National Academy of Engineering, NSF and IEEE. He is currently a member of the New Jersey EDA Clean Technology Advisory Committee, responsible for evaluating and recommending funding for renewable energy and other clean technology projects in New Jersey. In addition, Dr. Caudill has authored over 100 engineering and scientific publications and served as conference co-chair for the IEEE International Symposium on Electronics and the Environment and several years as Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Electronics and the Environment.
