The School of Management at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) was named an outstanding business school by The Princeton Review.
The New York-based education services company features the school in the new 2014 edition of "The Best 295 Business Schools” (Random House / Princeton Review).
Robert Franek, vice president of publishing at The Princeton Review, said NJIT was chosen based on high regard for academic programs and offerings, the institutional data collected from the school and the candid opinions of students attending NJIT who rated and reported on their campus experience. “We are pleased to recommend NJIT to readers of our book and users of our website as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA," said Franek.
“We are delighted that our school is again recognized as one of the top business schools in the nation,” Pius J. Egbelu, dean of the NJIT School of Management, said. “We believe that we offer our students a unique educational advantage that will help them succeed in a 21st century marketplace that emphasizes technology and globalization.”
He explained that business education at NJIT is distinguished by an emphasis on the applications of technology. “Here, at every turn, technology supplements the core business background common to all management programs. For example, interdisciplinary links with Newark College of Engineering are very strong. NJIT’s multidisciplinary student teams drawn from management, science, engineering, and the liberal arts have an important edge over traditional schools of business,” Egbelu said.
"The Best 295 Business Schools: 2014 Edition" has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on their academics, student life and admissions. In the profile on NJIT School of Management, The Princeton Review editors describe the school as "very friendly and diverse,” with “cutting edge classes" and a “unique emphasis on understanding how technology and science intersect with business.” NJIT’s current management students were surveyed by The Princeton Review, citing “relevance, practicality and innovation” in their education noting that “the curriculum is geared to the job market.”

Leir Center for Financial Bubble Research Opens at NJIT
Past economic bubbles have been inflated by visions of wealth from tulips (yes, tulips), international trade, railroads, biotechnology and the Internet. Their bursting has been disastrous for individuals and entire nations. The U.S. and other countries are still reeling from the collapse of the recent housing bubble. Bubbles definitely merit in-depth study for a better understanding of how they develop, how to predict them, and how to contend with the economic mess created when they burst. At NJIT, this is the goal of Professor William Rapp, director of the School of Management’s new Leir Center for Financial Bubble Research, www.leirbubblecenter.org. Coming up, Sept. 14-15, 2012, the center will host a conference on policies to contain the negative effects of bubbles without hindering economic progress. |
