Approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education in March 2019, a partnership program in financial engineering/financial technology between Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (SLU) and NJIT's MTSM was officially launched in 2020.
SLU offers distinctive accounting and finance programs. It was formed in June 2016 by amalgamating Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce and Shanghai Finance University. The name "Lixin" comes from a saying from the Analects of Confucius, "Without credibility, you won’t have a place in the world." The history of the University can be traced back to 1928, when Pan, Xulun, a renowned educator and accountant honored as the “Father of Modern Accounting in China” founded Lixin Accounting School. Running for over 90 years, it has been hailed as one of the birthplaces of modern accounting education in China and the cradle of future financiers. In December 2018, SLU was named a pilot university for the development of high-quality application-oriented universities in Shanghai.
The first cohort of students began their studies in this program on SLU’s Pudong campus in September 2020. The third cohort of students started in September 2022.
Students in this program spend the first three years in Shanghai and MTSM faculty teach them some core courses. Many of them will come to NJIT in their senior year and receive a Bachelor of Science degree from NJIT.
