The Santander Scholarship in Business Technology and Entrepreneurship Program
This program supports NJIT undergraduates from first-generation, low-income, and traditionally underrepresented backgrounds with interest and demonstrated potential in data management, reporting, data analysis, technology, and entrepreneurship. The program features an innovative link between scholarship, training, mentorship, and capacity building for students and community-based nonprofits. Each Santander Scholar will receive direct skills training in business technology areas (excel, data analysis, statistics, reporting, soft skills, public speaking and presentation skills, entrepreneurship), will be engaged with MTSM faculty/staff in the assessment process for the non-profit engagement, and then work with MTSM guidance and oversight to develop recommendations to address technology-related “pain points” of the partnering non-profits. The program is structured as a three-credit special topics course delivered over a full semester. Students present their project findings and recommendations at an annual showcase at the end of the semester. We see this program as a win-win for our students who receive financial support, skills training, and experiential opportunities. The non-profit organizations receive consultancy and guidance from NJIT faculty and staff and have students help define, address and make recommendations to support growth and efficiency. We are grateful for the investment and support of Santander Bank to make this program possible and are excited to begin the second cohort of this class in the Spring of 2022.
Business Service Center
The MTSM Business Service Center (BSC) aims to provide direct consultancy and contract engagement services to support external organizations and audiences. As an accredited AACSB business school, MTSM expects external project engagement to support the local community and complements our research efforts and degree-related teaching programs. NJIT-MTSM is often solicited by external businesses and organizations for help and guidance in areas related to business growth, product development, market research, financial structures, management, and access to capital. Through the BSC, MTSM can provide a holistic suite of services to address challenges and projects that support business growth. These services complement the research competencies of our faculty and other NJIT centers, our ability to provide customized degree-related education programs, and our ability to create talent pipelines via our students and alumni.
