What Is an MSM Concentration in Global Project Management?
At MTSM, we offer an MSM degree in project management, with the ability to concentrate in different areas. This is slightly different from those taking an accredited MBA program, which we also offer. Both have their merits, and both are great fits for different types of students. Some students find that the MS in Management degree program allows them more flexibility and an opportunity to learn new skills beyond a more generalized degree program. We have several concentrations within our MSM degree program, one of which is the Global Project Management concentration.
What Are the Details of the Global Project Management Program?
The last few decades have seen project management as an emerging field, one in which a manager or a team lead oversees a group of people to ensure that a project is completed on time. This is often seen within the technology and business fields, but it can happen within other fields as well. Our program at NJIT prepares you to take on the role as a project manager, team lead, or a more managerial role within a company, offering you the skill sets and abilities to work with vendors and suppliers, customers, and your team.
Am I a Good Fit for the Global Project Management Program? The primary prerequisite for the global project management program is an undergraduate degree and an interest in project management; however, we have noticed that many of our students here at NJIT have undergraduate degrees in computers or software, information technology, engineering, or business. A project manager also would enjoy working with others and being a team leader and part of a team. This concentration does lead to the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
What Is the Global Project Management Program Career Path?
While becoming a project manager is often the primary goal of the MSM degree concentration, having the MSM degree can lead to other career paths. Some of our graduates have gone on to have careers as COOs, CIOs, or FIOs, or may work in procurement or operations departments.
