NJIT students are expected to complete all MTSM courses at NJIT. Approval to take an equivalent course at another college during the summer will be considered only in exceptional cases and only when the course or its equivalent is not offered by NJIT during that summer term.
For an NJIT student to receive credit for courses taken at other institutions during the summer, they must follow the procedures and comply with the policies found in the NJIT catalog: catalog.njit.edu/undergraduate/academic-policies-procedures/. In particular, the student must obtain approval from MTSM first. Please note that approval is contingent on the following:
The student needs to demonstrate that they could not take the course during the fall or Spring semesters at NJIT.
Courses taken outside of NJIT must be at least eight (8) weeks in duration.
The student must have a signed Approval for Undergraduate Courses at Other Colleges form.
If students do not have a signed approval form prior to taking a course at another college, the course will not transfer under any circumstances.
A student is allowed to take an equivalent of a MTSM course outside NJIT only in rare situations. For example, when it is the last course required for graduation and it is not currently offered at NJIT.
